As experts share their perspectives on Water and Food Security to mark World Water Day 2012 at the United Nations headquarters in Rome, Italy today, Michael Oludare Ale, former Governor, World Water Council and chairman/chief executive, Male Integrated Science Nigeria Limited, Ibadan, Oyo State shares his views on same with Taiwo Olanrewaju.
The World Water Day is an annual event celebrated every March 22. It grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The event is a means of focusing attention on the importance of fresh water and advocating for the sustainable management of fresh water resources.
The theme for this year's World Water Day is ‘Water and Food Security’ and as such, this year's programme is hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
