In collaboration with German partners, UN-HABITAT has unveiled a new initiative aimed at addressing youth employment and empowerment.
Dubbed “WorldyouthXchange for Employability & Empowerment “, the project has been developed in close collaboration with Art Consulting Agency Riegelsberger and the German Association for Post, Information Technology and Telecommunication (DVPT).
It was introduced to the public in Frankfurt end of October at an event attended by some 60 people, including media representatives, delegates from the private sector as well as the arts and sciences, public institutions, and the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce.
The initiative shows the diverse living conditions of young people worldwide and assists them in strengthening their social and professional development. New global communication technologies will be key in dialogue oriented learning and proactively connecting people across all continents.
The concept of “WorldyouthXchange for employability & empowerment“ was presented by UN-HABITAT’s Youth Envoy, artist, and entrepreneur, Wolfgang Riegelsberger, and Mr Anantha Krishnan, UN-HABITAT’s Senior Advisor Youth Empowerment, who explained the goals and approach of the project. Hans Joachim Wolff, CEO DVPT, illustrated the importance of cooperation through the German Association for Post, Information, Technology, and Telecommunication, emphasising that globally used communication technologies are key to the success of the new initiative.
The “WorldyouthXchange’’ initiative will to allow selected youths across the globe the opportunity to strengthen and support each other through project collaboration and exchange of occupational and personal experiences.
It will also seek to establish a framework for additional partners – and their expertise and ideas – from all relevant social domains. Project partners from the private sector as well as the scientific and social sectors have already expressed interest in an active collaboration in Frankfurt.
After the launch of “WorldyouthXchange” in Frankfurt, the next presentation of the project will be in Naples at the World Urban Forum of UN-HABITAT.
